The Mini-DoubleTop

After the addition of the HOG600 to the Melba Swintex Separator range, the number one request that customer presented us with was an alternative to the short metal-framed panels that increased the overall height of the separator system. We listened.

The Mini-DoubleTop is a smaller variation of the DoubleTop, designed to locate into various barrier systems in order to increase their height. The robust design with additional reflective panels makes the HOG600 Chapter 8 compliant, whilst also providing a sound and stable setup ensuring public and workforce safety.

Height Variations
Like the existing DoubleTop, the Mini-DT incorporates a Hook & Eye connection which allows a fast & effective installation without the need for any additional parts or tools. With extra length on the connecting peg to ensure connection on uneven grounds.

A New Product You Say?

We haven’t let the process of relocating to a new factory get in the way of our innovations department. We have been hard at work in the background, with the announcement of a brand-new product imminent.

Watch this space.

Melba Swintex Recycling
THIS IS SERIOUS

The careless disposal of plastic is an ever-increasing problem for our planet. In 2015, approximately 300 million tons of plastic was generated, with the alarming statistic that nearly all plastic ever created still exists in some form today.

UN Environment Programme 2018

Sending plastic to landfill should no longer be an option, and more needs to be done to reduce the use of these single-use products. Examples include plastic bags, foamed plastics (“Styrofoam”), and glass-reinforced plastics, also known as SMC.

WHERE DOES YOUR RECYCLING REALLY GO?

Many products can be recycled, but to what extent?
It is common to recycle a product’s material just the once, this is a one-and-done process.

Glass-reinforced products can be recycled for use within concrete kilns or to make ash for Energy recovery (both processes being harmful to the environment),  but this rarely happens due to convenience and therefore heads straight to landfill .

PVC Recycling

Melba Swintex manufacture with durable grade plastics
these can be recycled more than once, and this is what we do!

WE ARE COMMITTED TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

All products from Melba Swintex are manufactured from recycled & virgin materials that are completely recyclable, with a company-wide ban on single use plastics and non-recyclable materials. Over 350 tons of plastic is recycled each week on site in our very own factory.

This practice allows the company to offer a true Closed Loop Recycling option to all customers, ensuring no waste product goes to landfill.

Melba Swintex has delivered a number of industry first products that have gone on to become the norm in the Traffic Management sector. Some of these include: the first two-piece road Cone, a one-piece 2 metre pedestrian Barrier, and a temporary traffic Sign collection manufactured from 100% recycled materials. As well as this, 80% of the current product range is manufactured from recycled materials, with the entire range being 100% recyclable.

The Company initially exported to trusted distributors within western Europe, but over recent years have vastly expanded its customer database to include well over 50 countries stretching from Iceland to Australia. The Tuff Tread

1200 x 800 Tuff Tread

Introducing the all new environmentally friendly Tuff Tread. A completely recyclable trench cover that conforms to the latest HAUC regulations. Manufactured from HDPE with a PVC skirting, this single-man lift cover is perfect for use as a Footway Board in utility & general street works.

For more information including test reports and datasheets:
Click here for the Tuff Tread web page.

Tuff Tread Testing

Tested in accordance to the latest HAUC regulations under the full guidance of Lloyds British, an accredited testing house with over 200 years experience in this field. The Tuff Tread can withstand a full working load of 400 kgs with minimal deflection, & 800 kgs with no sign of failure, over a trench span of 700mm. See the video above to find out more.

Tuff Tread Construction

The materials used in the manufacturing of the Tuff Tread are 100% recyclable which dramatically reduces the products ending up in landfill by using our closed loop recycling opportunity. Each Tuff Tread when recycled, can be used to manufacture: new products, cone bases, or even a new skirt for another Tuff Tread.

GRP is a Hazardous Material

Current covers are manufactured from GRP, which is composed of fine strands of glass fibre that are a severe irritant for skin. When the material breaks, there is a potential risk the glass fibres can become airborne, which poses a serious risk to existing respiratory problems.

GRP to Landfill

Existing GRP Trench Covers can break and fracture easily, so therefore must be replaced regularly. It is extremely difficult to recycle GRP, and due to this, most GRP products end up in landfill at their end of life.

Manufactured from Durable Materials

The Tuff Tread uses materials that have a high strength-to-density ratio. They are proven to last longer than GRP products. The material does not splinter, nor pose an irritant threat when exposed to contact with the skin. Maintenance of them is easy, and they can be wiped or washed clean if and when required.
